Just bought one S.W.M.B.O. wanted a sander for d.i.y. to household door frames.
I provisionally convined her it would be ideal for wood sanding as well as doubling up for our cars. Ordered & came standard backing plate & 2 free polish pads plus I ordered a small plate plus cut/polish 4" pads. also got some more detailing spray. Total order was only about £80.
I already own a Meguiars G220 which tbh is hard work on BMW clearcoat even with Megs Burgundy Cut Pad & Megs 105 compound..............my random orbital technique on the BMW's is acceptable btw
S.W.M.B.O. states it's far to heavy (2kg) for comfortable and regular d.i.y. home sanding use.
Was going to send order back for a refund less £20 p&p fees but wondering if genuinely worthy addition.
Any thoughts ?

Re: Silverline Silverstorm Rotary
If I bought SWMBO a sander I'm pretty certain it would not be in a fit state to return, as it would have needed surgical intervention to retrieve it...... ) )
BTW Is she any good with window frames? Plenty of fresh air as the work is all outside and only 50% will involve ladder work... O:-). No dust to be concerned about either..

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Silverline Silverstorm Rotary
) )Must clarify not a gift in any sense of the word........... S.W.M.B.O. has started d.i.y. project sanding doorframes/skirts & finding delta sander inadequate. When considering alternative machine I suggested the Rotary on basis it would do home & car.

Re: Silverline Silverstorm Rotary
I would def hang on to it as you will soon learn how to do those polishing and correction jobs on the cars, and it is very satisfying. I speak from a little experience....

Re: Silverline Silverstorm Rotary
Rotaries make paint correction so much easier but you do have to take care as you will burn the paint very easily.
Tbh on all the jobs I've done I do really prefer my trusty G220.

Re: Silverline Silverstorm Rotary
Have spent countless hours/days reading up on DW & Autopia etc & aware of pro's/con's of both G220 & BMW. The downside to the G220 is that even with a Meg's Burgundy cut pad and Megs 105 correction isn't as quick as I hoped on BMW clearcoat.
Aware Rotary mistakes can be made by silly technique such as for example static positioning at high speed with wool pad & G3. Would like to think I am not stipid enough to make mistakes and would ideal get jap & German scrap panels to experiment with. I don't own a PTG though & I know decent ones are over £100 & £135 on DW group buy. That said some have seen damage & taken supposed readings afterwards.
