new x5 40d

Post by nickb » Mon Jul 09, 2012 3:16 pm

i have just purchased a new x5 40 sport and should recieve it in a couple of weeks. i am keen to understand if they are as good as i felt it was when i test drove it and is there anything i should be aware of fault wise. i am swapping from a rangerover 4.4 due to being fed up of the old technology they use e.g a really poor phone system and sat nav

Welcome aboard...... :)

I have an X6 40d and that certainly produces the goods.. :ok:

Since new (Nov 2010) the only issues have been defective paint at delivery - polished out and corrected by my local BMW Bodyshop, and a dead dash panel a couple of months ago.  The latter fault was cleared after the bits were removed, disconnected and everything reassembled, and as yet has not reappeared.  Cause unknown.

thanks richard i appreciate your response. im really excitted and nervous as not had an x5 before. it drove really well in the test drive and i was impressed with the level of spec inside the car and what appeared to be a much newer technology.    :)

What's the spec?  Stick it in the'Newbies section.....

It's a very different car, especially in terms of ride & handling....much better, though some find the ride harsh on 20" wheels because of the Runflat tyres.  At least you won't need to lean into turns anymore.  X5 will stay upright..... :))

You see, decoding a predictive touch swype keyboard can be fun when, and I was not paying attention, it would have read -

And I have a keyboard of sorts just doesn't always recognise what it is I'm trying to say

You get it now? Bl@@dy technology >:(

Welcome, and yes - the 40d does deliver.

I got mine since mid march and the drive has been very enjoyable and the toys are very modern as well.
