Hi guys,
A question for you all.
When I'm driving slowly and then decide to give it a blast I get a big thud sound from rear of car.
I also sometimes get a quieter thud from front at slower speeds when accelerating at 10mph mark
If I accelerate fast but smoothly it's fine.
Any ideas? Also a rough guide on price

Re: Knocking/thud sound on acceleration
Sounds exactly like the same problem I posted in May last year on my 4.8is.......As the car was under warranty the dealer diagnosed the propshaft bearing as requiring replacement. They replaced the bearing but I still get a thud on acceleration under certain condtions.
To be honest I always thought (And still do) think it was a bushing / mounting problem somewhere but they assured me that everything was OK. Since then the car has been through another MOT test and nothing was picked up.

+1 for rear subframe bushes! There's some on ebay £80 a set, top quality the indy that fitted mine on my old x5 said they were spot on and as good as oem ones

Re: Knocking/thud sound on acceleration
Cheers guys.
another question.. whilst we are in recession and money is extremely tight. is it something I can keep driving with? or would it lead to further problems? its only if you ease of throttle and then give it some it does it sometimes. normal driving conditions its fine.
BTW its 2001 4.4
its my wifes car and only does about 5k a year max.

Re: Knocking/thud sound on acceleration
Yeah - will be fine.
Like any car that has worn bushes, if left for long periods of time or abused it will lead on to other parts taking the extra strain and then them going.
So get it done when you have the monies but don't bust a gut...
