Cleaning flies off car
Cleaning flies off car
I think I know the answer to this already. I have just managed to clean my car after my trip to Tuscany as its the first time we haven't had rain here since last sunday. After cleaning a couple of ton of sand and sweet wrappers out of the inside I then cleaned the outside, which has turned out ok but there is still the remains of 3500 miles of flies on the front of the car which hasn't come off under the normal wash. Every year when I get back from me hols I have the same dilemma, the only way to get rid is to clay and rewax the car which is fine as i like cleaning cars but takes me a full day to do. Does anybody know of a non harmful cleaner that can be used in the short term until I get a day to clay and wax it? I did make the mistake one year of taking one of my cars to the local car wash with a million flies on the front and all they did was spray the front with the same stuff they clean the wheels with which can't be good for the paint.
Thanks

Cleaning flies off car
Don't have that problem as I don't do that many miles in one hit with out any washers in-between, but I think I have seen some stuff made by muc-off. Never used it as never had the need but claims to remove flys.

I was told by a dentist friend, who also happens to be a petrolhead that human saliva is the best thing for dissolving the little blighters, but it just looks a bit strange stood in front of your car spitting all over it.
You could also try the quick detailing products as well, this would probably look a bit more professional.

I find that something like Autoglym 'Fast Glass' cleaner does a good job. It's the non-abrasive version so should not do any damage.
Either that or a bit of kitchen paper - you know the 'Juan Sheet' but pronounced er well er....you know - stuff soaked in water and left in contact with said beasties for a short while will 'rehydrate' the debris and it just wipes off......

You should spray the whole front end in some decent degreaser before snow foaming. Quick detailer is quite good too for afterwards to remove the residue left behind.

I have this mental image now of 3500 flies greeting me when opening the garage after they have been "rehydrated" and came back to life ... :'(

Re: Cleaning flies off car
Well my car is looking at its best again, went to a place called shinearama in altrincham and they sold me some cleaner called chemical guys tar and bug remover which worked fine. Whilst it was nice again yesterday I couldn't help but clay and re wax the car just to finish it off ( much to the missus disgust) >:( , should stay nice and clean until it rains again.b
