Here we go , go easy on me lol , I have a live box cd20 for 6 years the internet has been fine really fast all good but I've never been billed for it ! In the beginning it was free for a phone contract deal when that finished I'd have to start paying but they never billed me , but the other day it's gone really really slow can't watch YouTube takes mins to open pages ! But the connection between iPhones iPads laptops to the wifi box is fine just the Internet speed what can I do before running out and buying an Internet deal ??

Re: Internet slow
Are you on a 'bundled' system where ZeroRange provide your line, or a BT line? Try checking the line on http://www.speedtester.bt.com which will check the physical link between you and your exchange. It might work on a non-BT line.
Also try Ookla's Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test on the App Store and that will report you system performance between you and a remote server.
It could be an issue with EE's (as Orange now call themselves) own system, or a line fault, or they've spotted you and 'throttled' your line speed, or your router/modem is failing. Have you tried rebooting the router/modem as a first step?
I changed my router recently and have seen a 25% jump in my outbound data rates although the inbound remains at around 5.5MB/s (no fibre, cable or fast 24Mbps broadband services here).

Re: Internet slow
The tools listed will give you some figures then. The BT one only needs your phone number, the Ookla one is free and just sends and package of data between you and another box on the web so telling you the 'ping' time (round trip time for a 'Hello' packet) and your Internet speed as well.

If you got a new router and set it up with your old username etc you probably still wouldn't get a bill. Could try changing filters mobiles use so little data they probably wouldn't notice reduced speed as much. Maybe try another laptop/ pc to confirm its the router. You haven't put any new things like digibox in to phone line without filters?

Re: Internet slow
Yikes! The 'ping' time is about average as is the outbound rate, but the inbound is rubbish as you suspected. What figures did you get off the BT Tool - which I think only works via a PC as it needs Java to run. One thing you could try is physically unplugging the router from the line as that will reset the link between you and the BT exchange.
You could also try changing the frequency that the wireless is using in case someone has set up another wireless system on the same channel as yours is operating on.
No idea why the Sky system should be affecting it though, unless it's downloading or Orange have put some kind of cap which you've exceeded perhaps?

Re: Internet slow
You can. If possible get one which supports Wireless Standard 802.11n as this is currently the fastest at 300Mbps for your internal wireless network.
Also drop WEP as it is very insecure. Switch to the WPA/WPA2 standard which is much more secure. Most new systems support it as do your idevices.
You just need your full Orange log in details for connecting the router to the line which you then put into the new router and then follow the instructions for setting up wireless. Unplug the old unit from the BT line and plug the new one in. Can't help the specifics of setting up Orange, but they should have provided you with all the necessary usernames and passwords.
