Blue tooth doesn't work

Post by Big Dog » Mon May 28, 2012 10:12 pm

Guys my x5 fails to pickup my HTC desire S via bluetooth, also my phone doesn't pick up the car either. The car just say 'searching' for ages and nothing happens.

Can't believe in this day and age it cannot pick the phones up. I even tried my old blackberry and Samsung and nothing. They do not pickup the BMW.

Am I missing something or what?

If you are following the pairing process in the manual and still seeing nothing then it could be Bluetooth module failure. Is the module actually fitted to the car (should be in the left boot cubby), or has it been removed? It's not unknown for these things to pack up. Not all phones are compatible but they will usually discover each other even if some of the functionality is limited - BMW got slated for that in 2004/5.

Welcome to the Forum. Tell us a bit more about your car (a 2006 X5 from your other post) and spec/fitted options and we might be able to help out.. :D

If you're not sure what options are fitted then follow the instructions in the 5th post down on this thread on how to find out. Once logged in you need to select 'Options' at the top of your screen to pull up the factory list.. :)

It could be a simple as there are already 4 phones that have been paired in which case a further phone will not.

You need to clear the phones listed first so you're starting from scratch so to speak. Follow the following procedure to clear:

Hold down pairing button and switch ignition on.
Continue to hold down pairing button for 10 seconds and you will get 3 beeps. All previous phones are now deleted.

Then go back to the normal process to register a phone.

Alternatively X5Sport may well be right but try the free options first.

You need to ensure you are following the pairing instructions correctly otherwise it won't do anything as you are finding.
