xenon angle eyes? the 'angles' are probably LEDs not xenons (xenons are the low or high and low beams).

IF the angels are LEDs the 'blink' could be the bulb test carried out at start-up, which is a low voltage pulse. the low voltage pulse is not intended to light up the bulbus but when its connected to LEDs ,because LEDs light up at very low voltage it can cause the LED angels to blink.

not that htis has happened to me cos i've not don this, but 'could be'...

Thanks Raj and jaynana! Not worried anymore =) And by the way I received reply from the seller. He also says it is firing and 100% normal blinks.

No problem. It does look a little strange at first.

E53 New Headlights c/w Angel eyes

Problem with it blinking is it doesn't just do it on start up. The bulb check runs every few mins. I first noticed when I upgraded my angel eyes on my old E39. It would flash every couple of minutes which is annoying. I turned cold checks off with bmwscanner and all was fine again.

At what point as I have never noticed that?

I would be surprised if the system tests every few minutes. On start up it is to inform whether there is a bulb out straight away. But after that my thinking would be when the lights are switched on it will throw up at that point.

E53 New Headlights c/w Angel eyes

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Sun May 13, 2012 10:41 am

I noticed it pulsing sat at traffic lights(reflection off the car in front)
I've also had a bulb out warning while driving so it must pulse at regular intervals to be able to detect a blown bulb.
This was on a 2000 plate e53 though

Mines a 2003 e53 and deffo doesn't do that so perhaps your bulbs are failing the testing bit ?

E53 New Headlights c/w Angel eyes

Sorry mis typed.... That was on a 2000 plate E39. Angel eye bulbs were the led type and brand new.
Got them in my 54 plate e53 but I disabled cold checks when I fitted the angel eye LEDs straight away so don't know if it does still flicker/pulse

Ok so I've just tried it and can confirm there is a very quick (one pulse) every 4-5 minutes. I've never noticed before but it's easy to miss as it was a very quick pulse on one side first them the other side. Blink and I would have missed it.

But there you go.
