Facelift Front Bumper Upper Grills

Post by storminmike » Mon Apr 30, 2012 10:04 pm

Can anyobody decipher this?

It details Removing and installing/replacing grill bumper trim, the two top chequer bits

http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/s/view.pl?1/09/13/68

It seems tos suggest some sliding unpicking movement that I can't get my head around. Is this possoble to remove without removing the front bumper?

On Real OEM the two parts are shown here as part 9

Even crazier is that silver $72.68 is double the price of black $35.21.....how much does a tin of paint cost!!!

I've replaced all mine as all were damaged. Bumper off as you have to slide them across to release them.

Thought as much....Is the "slide" obvious?

Still ludicrous the price hike between matt black and off silver

Are they beyond repair, or could you spray them?

actually...it's not my X5 but another one I know of :D

Not sure how but they are both toast and only really worth of replacement. They're titanium which in that space is not exactly on show. Given the massive price difference then black ones with titan silver paint (or that darker rover colour mentioned before on knobs and steering wheel replacement threads) would seem a worthy shout. Not sure of the longevity of paint though

It was more about how much hassle it is to get them out....they look chunky, chunkier than I first realised

Facelift Front Bumper Upper Grills

I need a drivers side upper after a big stone knocked a hole in it. Mine are same colour as the car (sterling grey)
I don't know if they have been sprayed but looks like they only come in black and Titan silver

Once the bumper is off (very straight forward mind) you will see how they are held on.

Thanks for that Raj 8-)

edit....actually

You can see...touch them without taking the bumper off with the bonnet off

still can't figure how they come out
