BMW Warranty and LED Angel Eyes Retrofit

Post by carlos50 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:54 pm

Hi all

Will the BMW warranty on my X6 be affected if i installed LED bulbs to make the angel eye rings white like the LCI lights (albeit not quite as good)? Since bulbs aren't covered i wondered if id be OK aslong as i went with the current 35w current draw? My X6 has yellow looking rings and i was going to fit super white normal H8 bulbs but am fairly certain they will be rubbish after reading up on here, in fact some LED's are rubbish too :headbang:

Any comments welcome and apologies if this has been covered before.

Thanks

Carl

Take them out before you take the car into a Dealer and they'll never know..... :D

Most Dealers probably won't have any issues with it, but although the bulbs aren't covered the wiring to them is and that might just give someone the excuse to try to blame your mod on a fault occurring. I can't see an issue with going for the blue filtered H8 bulbs - they'll still show a little yellow, but LEDs might in some cases lead to further discussions shall we say....

I tried the 'HID Look' super bright, super white bulbs in my E53 fog lights, and wasn't impressed at all. I reverted to the factory fitted bulbs.

I am still looking for something decent to change mine to, but I'm not spending huge sums on something that is probably not going to be all that good, such as the Lux V3. It will be interesting to see whether the LCI X6 lamp units are a different shape to the current ones as they have LED Angel Eyes ( and full LED headlights for only an additional £1600!!!! :o )
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
