I suppose the best person to ask this to would be 'Darnicmax' as he was one of the last persons to post about this subject.
You see, I too fitted a new towbar a few weeks ago, but my problem seems to relate to that little white box that you have to fit down the side of the battery compartment. It was part of the dedicated wiring harness that came with the towbar.
Ever since I connected it, it has knocked off my front and rear parking sensors. Now I know that if you hitch up your trailer and plug in the electrics it cuts them off, but surely if your running the car only, they should work as usual ??
I even dis-connected the multi-plug inside the rear panel today to see if they activated again ( in case the wires were wrong in the 13 pin plug ) but still no joy. Short of digging down to the battery again to take off the little white box again I was hoping someone might know the reason for this ??
Any sugestions please ?

Re: That little white box !
On my OEM fitted towbar the PDC worked all round when nothing was connected and if I remember correctly only cut the rear sensors off when a trailer was plugged in. I had to use a 7-13 pin adapter though. Can't see that it should make a difference but......
Is the aftermarket system plug and play, or is coding needed? I know the OEM Retrofit kit needs no coding work.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: That little white box !
It's the same box that is shown in the 'How to fit a westfallia towbar' post. I bought it from the same PJ Jones, and it was the dedicated system for the X5. I chose to go for the 13 pin plug and buy the separate adapter lead to connect the two plugs on my caravan. As you say, it shouldn't matter which plug is used,.. mines stopped working before I got anywhere near my caravan.
Just in case my wires were mixed while conecting the wires to the plug I disconnected the multi-plug feeding it but still no work.
Thanks,
jonny
