Tyre pressure sensors
I'm sure there was a thread, with a link to the makers of the earlier system sensors???? but accepting my search skill are poor i can't find any reference to this.
Anyone know who the actual makers are to by-pass increasing BMW profits?
TIA
I should add, i recall it is (was) Beru but they seem to have sold that side of their business? They're over £100 a pop on eBay

Tyre pressure sensors
Hi,
I was looking at these last week and found 3 listed onrealoem.com for around £30 + vat each. In the end up I decided just to switch the system off and save the expense.
I think this may have been the link for the aftermarket ones

Re: Tyre pressure sensors
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to switch the system off don't you have to re-progg. the software, so as it's not looking for any pressure difference, and don't forget, there is a sensor in the spare wheel as well.

Re: Tyre pressure sensors
Thanks for the link which does look familiar
Surprisingly their pricing is more than my dealers quote but with both hovering around £300 for four sensors, plus the hassle and further expense of the swap over it's prohibitive.
On the early systems such as on my car, i'm assured it can't be switched off hence the endless message/s and gong/s become an irritant

Hi,
You can switch off the check control message so you don't get any dash warnings. I've done it with one of the scanners from eBay that allows you to choose what warnings are shown on the dash. Technically the system is still on but you don't get any information from it so no warning lights or gongs.

Re: Tyre pressure sensors
Thank for your input. I don't actually own laptop but ahve frends who do so anything is acheivable in theory.
Do you (or anyone else) know for sure just the warning part of the TPMS can be disabled? I don't want to switch off all the warnings just this PITA one

I bought my car with 1 sensor missing and the warning light on ( previous owner told me it had been removed) so like yourself I priced up the parts looking at the worst case of all 4 sensors being needed and found it to expensive.
The scanner gives you an option page for check control messages that lists the full set of warnings that can be displayed. All you need to do is untick the box for tyre pressures to disable the tyre warning light.
This does not affect any of your other warnings however you can choose to activate or disable any check control message you wish.
My car is running with only 3 sensors and no tyre warning lights or gongs whatsoever but every other warning light is working perfectly. This morning I drove off with the boot not closed properly and the warning for boot flashed up immediately.

Re: Tyre pressure sensors
My Alpina Dynamics actually have three of the metal sensor valves attached (for the pressure sensors) as the rims were originally bought 9 odd years ago from a dealer in Kings Lynn. Whether the sensors are still attached to the back is anyones guess. Too much hassle/cost to have the tyres removed and refitted just to check. But would prefer to have standard valves fitted as my E53 uses the updated system.

Re: Tyre pressure sensors
check the laptop runs nothing higher than xp. I dont believe you can use the scanners on win7 64 bit home version. Might be able to run the laptop in xp mode if they have premium...
