Front drivers seat electric fault 2006 e53.

Hi All,
New to the owners club and didnt think I would be posting for a while!

Just collected my E53 from an indy mechanic. Dropped it in as the seat would not tilt. The motor needs to be changed (less than 100quid) but you need a BMW gig to replace the part! He's telling me its to be booked into a main dealer. I believe the lad as i know him well. Anyone have this problem before or know a way around it.
I dont want to go looking for a complete new seat already.

It's worth ringing up the dealer and outlining problem and ask for a quote to replace the motor In the seat

Tried Graeme i got through but they want investigate. No doubt its clocking up the labour charge to tell me the same thing. I'm told apparently to save in the tooling costs every main dealer doesnt have the specialised tools??? They hire them from the main distributor???

Makes sense. There probably aren't that many seat issues they have to deal with, but see if you can glean anything of use from here:

hi they are cloth with the memory module removed
but all motors were working perfect when removed ideal for spares
make me an offer !!!!!!!
