It may simply be the change of map database supplier from Tele-Atlas to Navteq?

You can design your own route in Google Maps on a PC/Mac and then send it to the car. You need to have a GMail account, be looged in, and have got your BMW Assist account set up. Google maps contains a 'Send to Car' function, and you need to tell it the car type and Assist user name. The route will appear in your 'Messages' list. It's easier than trying to do it in the car, and works with full UK Postcodes too. It's the only reason I have a GMail account as well.

You can even share it with other BMW Owners........should you wish to. Handy for Club drive outs on summat like a 'Champagne Run' or 'Ring' trip say. Everyone uses their own route to an agreed meeting point, then all onto the same route from there. Of course you need an up to date CIC Nav and a current Assist Account...

Note - it does not work from a Tablet for some reason or other...at least it doesn't on the iPad. It used to work on everything without an Account, but alas no more.

Hi X5Sport sorry to here about your car, but nice news that you have managed to get for a drive at last. It must feel like freedom for you again after so long. Hope you make more progress and the car is fixed soon

Set mine up on line before I got the car via BMW UK Website. You need the VIN and Reg and set it all up there and then. No paperwork afterwards at all.

I'll get the body shop to quote next week, but it is nice to be on the RHS of the car rather than acting as co-pilot. I'm not a good passenger, and even worse when it's my car...

Mine has an option of route list but then I have the older nav compared to yours.

Mine was winding me up yesterday trying to take me through central London to get home from cambridge

Re tunnel 9/10 I get to go in the oversize carriages in the lotus!!!! The group we travel in some of the cars are just too low to go peasant class. Normally we just drive down the oversize lane and they let us in

Great because there are aren't many other cars in their bad because you sometimes get coach loads of kids that suddenly swarm all of the cars!

Safe trip to all that are away, I'm currently near Crawley playing with all of pvrs toys!

Sometimes even changing the route type still results in some (sometimes the same) stupid routing! I don't know what algorithms the newer system uses, but I'm sure the E53 ones were better as were the routing options.
