Funny you should mention trailer, will be selling an Ifor Williams LM146G soon - details here > Trailer shouls just be able to carry your cleaning kit ;)
I did think about that for moving the E46 about (it's SORN'd now and stored) but I only chose the 2.4T limit on the X6. There was no way I was going to need the 3.5T capacity upgrade. IWT do make nice trailers though..

Being boring the large squre water butt arrived this morning so decided to install it that was at 1030am.

Well these things never run smoothly. And since drain pipe next to corner of house next to drive decided to locate it there. Prob was about 3 different levels drive, drain and grass. So I decided on using paving slabs so went next door as they had some in their garden for 10 years just sitting there.

So asked next door and guess what they are going to use them this year amazing! So off we trundle to wicks to get 3 slabs. By the time I'd been to halfords and bought polish etc as buy one get one free on cleaning chemicals it and back it as 1pm

Had a coffee break. Then started leveling it off digging grass up and installing bricks under the slabs for support thinking this was a 5 minute job, yeh right!

A bit later it was ok and the base was on the slabs, then butt on base, easy now just to connect to the drain pipe. Well after cutting pipe and then disconnecting brackets. Seemed ok but could not reconnect drain pipe.

Well after moving all the cars including taking the one out of the garage I could get to the ladder so I could then disconnect drain pipe from gutttering. With the wifes help holding ladder I managed that bit then conected lower part then connected pipe to guttering again.

Nearly done I thought but need to make a 26mm hole for pipe to connect from drain pipe to butt only had a 22 mm one so spent an hour filing it out but did it. Then cleaned it out and connected pipe. Hooray

now for the fun filling the butt, easy and tidying up. Well it's installed finished about 6pm and so tomorrow just have to put pump in the butt connect pressure washer and so I can wash the wifes astra as a test.

Sounds like you've been having fun....not!

Isn't it always the same? The simplest looking jobs take hours longer and need three more pairs of hands than you thought.. :headbang:

Now the ban is in force here, I can only fill the tank with so called 'grey water' so I have also bought a chemical that you add to the water to stop it going nasty. Water Butt Treatment. For now I've got 600+ litres available so OK for a while...

The last ban in the East lasted more than 14 months.

Well no surprise there.....pretty much the whole country is only semi-dry because of all the embankments. Dig in the wrong mound of earth and everyone goes swimming? :sos:

Quick update on yesterday, cleaning wifes astra using karcher pump in water butt and pressure washer. Well all I can say is thanks PVR the spec you mention makes it all work great.

One clean car and very little water used. One tip from father in law is to put pump in a dish at bottom of butt that way it doesn't drag in any bits to the filter from the bottom- clever chap.

Well after washing got the scratches out of the bonnet then polished it. Then did wheels and then did X5 wheels to use up the remainder of the bottle of polish. Then a deserved break and roast diner out with no washing up.

Today it's been difficult due to weather but found a large garage and with my wifes help leathered car off. Then together waxed car and polished it off after which we went for a coffee

Since then it's just rained on her car, oh well at least the BMW Is clean and so are the wheels.

That's good to know...

I've got the same pump now but haven't used it as the weather has been foul! How did the pump react to the PW being on and off, or did you only run the pump when the PW was also in use? What distance between the two? I think Karcher recommend a minimum of 7.5m.

I had thought about suspending the pump just above the bottom via a piece of rope between the pump's handle and a wood or metal bar (I will have an RCD in circuit so it's safe) across the top of the butt as that would also keep the grunge out.....

The pump work well with the PW (it's about 110 bar). Had to let it pump through first. Only ran it when using PW. Also from pump to PW about a 1.5m in distance but it worked well. The pump also has an auto mode - very trick but I just used manual mode.

The on off is safe and the power supply is long enough although connected to extension lead as well as PW then connected to the garage out of harms way. But think will use a tray or dish at bottom of pump to avoid debris in filter.

Also amazed at how little water it used and I rinsed car kfirst then put auto glum body wash on car via PW then after washing rinsed off? I couldn't measure how much but about 5cm of the butt best estimate 20 litres.

Best bit it was legal so if neighbours complain no probs
