Have a look at Realoem for the vehicle, or use the last 7 characters of the VIN. Look in the 'Communications' section and see if you can get a friendly dealer to print out (or email) a copy of all the documents that are listed with an EBA reference.
I'm not surprised at that cost. Looking on bimmerretrofit dot com at the other E9x versions there's a lot of work required so the labour charge will be high. Parts are spread all over the car so it looks like a lot of interior fittings and trim needs removing. Probably cheaper and easier to get a Parrot kit, or similar...

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
