Haven't read the guidelines yet have made it clear I'm not happy that the screen is damaged by a chip regardless of it being an MOT pass or not. I think its reasonable to expect an AUC BMW without screen damage

Regardless of the screen passing an MOT, this is about customer satisfaction. As you say £35k is a large amount of money and you want to feel like you are being look after. I would suggest that if they don't sort all the issues out to your satisfaction then you will be more than happy to record your feelings when BMW send you the purchase experience questioner

In the mean time keep a level head and make sure the SM keeps you up to date with progress. If you get no joy with him go direct to the DP.

Good luck

A further update and advice please:-

In reference to the damaged screen the dealer has asked me if i would be willing to have it replaced under my insurance and they will pay the excess, a cheek really but i just want to have the damaged screen replaced and feel that allowing them to collect the X6 and take it back to their dealership 4 hours away will not bode well for me as they are haggling over it. Do you think i should use my insurance to fix this problem? They have confirmed they will fit a genuine BMW screen which is good but im just not sure. Im still of the opinion that since they knew about it pre sale and even paid someone to try and improve its appearance then i have a case. What do you guys think?

If the screen is replaced at my house / local depot then they have agreed to allow me to have the dents removed at their expense here also, im quite glad about that bit.

The drivers seat with denim transfer is not bad but was not quite good enough in my opinion but airing on the side of caution i have suggested that i may be willing to accept that rather than let someone "have a good go" at scrubbing it off. Polished Bliss have suggested a cleaner that will work from the Swissvax range.

In summary then, am i still right to think the screen isnt good enough, what are BMW standards when it comes to preparing the car for retail, will a damaged screen fall outside their standards?

In order for me to accept the above i suggested a goodwill payment of £200 be made to me, reflecting the time and effort i will spend and the fuel saving they will have from not driving up to collect my car, taking it back to their premises then the return leg. They have stated they arent prepared to pay that, and i think thats pretty poor really.

What would you guys do? Im in to minds if i should threaten to cancel the deal altogether by exercising my 14 day cooling off period on the finance PCP deal. Can i still do that, i collected on 24th March and signed on the premises. The paperwork states i have 14 days to cool off, from the date i receive docs in the post, i was sent a welcome letter on 3rd April so do i have 14 days from then or from 24th March?

If i was to consider cooling off, what happens?

Sorry to ask so many questions but i get the feeling the dealer sales manager will be difficult about the goodwill payment even though he has said he will pay my insurance excess and the cost of the dent removal. I dont think thats good enough, do you all agree?

Thanks

Carl

Why should your insurer pay for their bad work? If they knew then they have a duty of care to sort everything out properly and at their own expense. These screens aren't cheap and he's trying to weasel out of it for that reason. My E53 replacements were £700 each fitted, 6 years ago! The car has a warranty, so it's his problem.

Have you a nearer dealer that they can sub the work to?

There's no way I would let them drive the car about either. That's what trailers/transporters are for.

I would very seriously consider getting BMW GB involved if they keep this up.

14 days is from the date of signature I think.

I'm sure my agreement says 14 days from the date I receive docs, if I sign on their premises? Unless I have misunderstood it.

Think I will call BMW GB tomorrow.

Have just checked and it is 14 days from receiving a copy of the executed agreement from the dealership, I assume this is the day I signed so am now outside that 14 days?

I reported the sceen damage within about 20 mins of driving away, the salesman played dumb and asked me to send a picture when I got home 3 + hours later, knowing all along that it was there before I bought it.

Sounds like they failed then. I'd give it back to them if they wont do anything about it. I'd get onto trading standards and consumer advice and find out what your rights are etc.

Oh and I deffo wouldn't be using my own insurance to get it replaced. I'm with swiftcover and although I have full no claims they freeze your no claims for that year. I had a screen replaced on a vectra through swift and you have to declare it as a claim for 3 or 5 years whatever it is and it did bump my premium up. I never realised about the declaring it until recently as I used to just take the auto renewal each year. Last years renewal was more than double so I cancelled and started again for less but had to declare windscreen claim. Just put in a fresh claim for glass and renewal due in July so guess I'll be leaving swiftcover then. They won't use oem glass either
