4.4 Sport - 17" rims??

Post by Sumo69 » Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:02 pm

Firstly a big hello from a newbie.

I have viewed a 2005 1 owner car with BMW history - its got comms, tv and a functioning paroramic sunroof.

A couple of questions:

The owner has taken off the std 19" rims and fitted 17" rims which are in perfect nick / what are your thoughts re the issues of having the smaller rim?

Are both wing mirrors meant to dip when reverse is selected?

It has bluetooth apparently though I cannot get the I phone to see it so does it need a handset fitted in the central cubby?

Finally, if the aux heater option is shown - what does this mean?

Thanks in advance

David

4.4 Sport - 17" rims??

Had he put 17" on with winter tyres?
A lot of us have a second set of alloys for winter with winter tyres. I'm just having my 19's tarted up and new tyres then I'll be taking the 17's off again.

Only passenger mirror will dip when reverse is selected, but the mirror switch needs to be set to adjust the drivers side for it to do that. If you don't want it to dip push the switch over to the passenger side mirror.

I think you'll need to put the car into pairing mode before your phone will see it. Getting into pairing mode is easy when you know how but is a bit of a pain in the a**e first time. Details can be found on here if you search.

Are you sure it's aux heating and not aux vent? Two completely different things. If it is aux heating does the owner have a webasto key fob to activate it or has he/she activated it themselves with a laptop and diagnostic software like a lot of us have done. If its the latter then it won't nessesarily work. A other few threads on that if you search on here,

The Webasto heater on the petrol variants was a rare and expensive choice - are you sure it is aux heating you are seeing on the screen and not aux ventilation? If its got a petrol Webasto it won't have been activated by owner - it is factory fitted - and should have a special fob (costs over £150 so be sure to get it!!) which you can use to activate it remotely. If its one of the rare petrol Webastos, its very very desirable and a splendid extra to have on cold dark icy / snowy mornings...........I know, I have one in my 4.8 :)

Apparently not!

So he has agreed to put tyres on if I buy some rims so I have a choice of this one with a pan roof and heated seats with 60k mileage and a set of 17" winter rims/tyres for £12500 or no roof, heated seats or spare rims but 48k mileage for £11500.

What do you guys think?

Depends what you want really. Do you want pan roof?
If you get the one with 17's your sorted for winter wheels straight away, I'd say there are more 19's on eBay for sale as some upgrade to 20's or even 22's.
