Wheel sizes??

Post by snipez999 » Wed Mar 07, 2012 11:50 am

Changed my wheels back to summer set up yesterday. The larger low profile runflat set up feels strong on tramlining, but maybe this is my imagination and a particularly uneven stretch of road combined with memory loss having had the winters on for the last 5 months. However, I just noticed that 3 of my wheels - 20" Y spoke - have 'handed' sectionn where they meet the hub, and the number '13' printed on the outside edge; but the one which I had replaced after my crash one month into ownership has a single uninterrupted hub section, and the number '15' printed on it. Have I got the wrong size wheel?! Of course when I get home I will whip the offending wheel off and check part numbers on the inside, but if anyone knows the meaning of the 2 numbers on the outside that would be useful in the meantime, for reassurance if nothing else. Thanks.

Day of the month, or mould number perhaps? Mine are being changed by the dealer later today so I'll have a look on mine to see what number is on them. Where exactly do I need to look to be of any help?

Checked mine, and those on the cars in the Dealership, most of which also carry a number. '13' seemed quite common on the non-M wheels. Asked the guys on site, and they believe the number denotes the manufacturer. They think '13' is for BBS made wheels, but weren't sure if the '15' was someone like Schnitzer. No need to worry, you just have a different manufacturer or production line for that odd wheel. As three of your wheels were probably made in the US, it's possible the replacement was made in Europe.

Great, thanks for that m8.
For complete peace of mind I'll swap the new wheel over with the old one (which was perfectly serviceable and refurbed for a ton after I recovered it from the bodyshop for the princely sum of zero pounds and pence).
