It's been available in the UK for a while now, but only works within 1,500 metres of you and your car due to 'Privacy Concerns'. I did query that limit with BMW GB and was told it was the range limit of the car. That is of course complete bollox as the data is sent via the on board phone telematics system and I told him so. He countered by saying that someone may not want you to know where they are with your car! Not surprisingly I wasn't impressed with that answer either and responded that as it was my car I had every right to know EXACTLY where is was, especially if say it was with the Dealer, or had been stolen.

The phone robot just said it was a privacy matter and BMW had said 1,500m was the limit. The system just tells you that the car is more than 1,500m away and for privacy reasons it won't tell you where! Perhaps it is to stop the Boss tracking employees?
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I suspect that the real reason is that uk dealers have a nice little earner selling and fitting trackers which would not be necessary if the iPhone system wasn't restricted. I don't think there is any restriction in Germany.

Even more confusing as we have the same colour car as well. At least mine is the modern face lifted version, not that old banger like yours :poke:

Your knot tightening must be soon?
