X5 - 2001 - 4.4i M Sport - Hesitancy Under Kick Down Load

Works fine under normal conditions, as soon as you kick down it then hesitates....slight rapid consistent vibration.

Then switch engine off and restart and it clears again until you kick down again.

Any ideas?

Hard to tell without seeing - It could be engine or gearbox related.

Either way you are going to end up digging into your wallet to sort matters as I doubt it's something that can fully be diagnosed & sorted via a forum............unless someone else proves me wrong.

Good Luck

Oh & btw there's no such thing as an M Sport E53.

Sounds like missfire under load. Could be a myriad of things. Always good to start with plugs and go from there....

Cheers for replies

Plugs done already two weeks ago, coil packs fine, also pressure tested

Squashed/bubble gum like PCV hoses common on 4.4i. If not changed yet they will need doing. Quick check is engine cover off and physically check same to see if they are knackered. If this is the case then their condition can supposedly also be linked to rocker gasket failure.

Of course it could be something else thus a good indy is probably your answer.

Hesitancy is there, however doesnt seem to kick down as fast as what it used to...

Could changing the gearbox oil / automatic transmission fluid help?, I know in manual it says lifetime, but what is lifetime, 100,000 miles?

Could it be worth replacing?

Thanks

Tim
