My 2010 35d was on a 2 year lease. Have been pondering next move, but given the value of the car and the fact that the dealer has finally fixed my intermittent CEL and low temperature sluggishness I decided to buy the car. Paid BMW Finance Canada directly as the dealer wanted an additional 599 dollars plus tax for 'admin fee' that was never mentioned when I took out the original lease. The business manager has been trying to contact me for a couple of days. Might go in and tell her in person. I know, I'm not a nice person! (but I'm 600 dollars better off than a nice person...!)

Good for you. Not sure what the rules are in Canada, but in the UK, legally all charges have to be notified in writing up front and are part of the contract.
We may well buy our Mini after two years, even though it's on a 5-year lease plan. After two years it's cheaper to either change the car, or buy it. After that point you lose more than you gain in the refunded added interest charges.
