Dpf filter
Just wondering - I've got an 06 plate BMW X3 2.0d and was wondering if it had a diesel particle filter? Only on start up no smoke comes out of the rear which is quite different to our e91 320d 2006 which would have a little puff on start up....
Re: Dpf filter
Looking at RealOEM it would appear that you might. Use the last 7 of your VIN in the 'serial number' box and it will bring up your car spec. It probably depends upon your actual production month - which your VIN Entered will pin down, or you can look under the bonnet. That year saw the shift from EU3 to EU4 emissions approvals. The EU4 version looks as if it might have a DPF. Hard to tell though. All I can say is our EU3 approved E53 and E46 have a little puff, but our EU5 approved X6 and Mini don't smoke at all.

You could also look at the exhaust...
Pointing down and no, straight out and yes.

Doesn't always hold true. Our E46 330Cd M Sport has no DPF and its exhausts are straight out.

Really? Can't challenge an owner just going by every one I see. Never seen one straight thru...
Apologies for the hijack op.

Having just been out to have a look at the car properly, I stand corrected by the Master.
The pipes do come out the back, but the tips are indeed aimed roadwards. Never spotted that one before. Shows how often I'm allowed anywhere near it (probably with good reason it seems). Apologies for the slight misdirection. It's either that or she's curbed it at the back as well as each corner!!
