Camera Problems !!

Post by Neil48is » Wed Feb 01, 2012 10:49 am

Just followed the excellent guide in the How To's. I've got the camera installed, all the wiring done according to the diagram but when i select reverse the camera comes on in black & white and the screen does a constant vertical scrolling action. Anybody got any ideas, thought i was doing too well !!

i would double check the video lead connections from the camera to the tuner. mine was very fiddly to do, a bit of a botch up job to be honest, but no other way i could see to do it.

NTSC or PAL?
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Its a PAL camera but i have used navcoder to change from NTSC to PAL but the problem still persists. Could it simply be a case of swapping pins 13 & 14 around ??

Ok,so the screen turned black altogether earlier,so after ranting and raving for a while and throwing various tools around i stripped the tailgate again to try a spare camera we had lying around. The picture came on the screen straight away so i naturally assumed the new camera must be a dud. However i thought i'd give it a second chance and reconnected it,hey presto the picture came on straight away, result,or so i thought !! Returned home selected reverse, black screen again :headbang: I stripped the tailgate yet again,i thought that it might be the video connection that was at fault but after unplugging and replugging there was no difference, still a black screen,i then tried the power black power connector unplugged and replugged and the camera came on straightaway. I then had 10 minutes of flicking the car into reverse and neutral and the picture stayed true, this took its toll on the battery and the car struggled to start and then when i went for reverse there was a black screen again :headbang:

Can anybody help me with this frankly, infuriating little problem !!!

Neil - I've removed the second relay pic, it was wrong use the one that's there now. Think that's where your problem lies.

To summarise, on the relay you should have:

Pin 85 to +ve reverse light
Pin 86 & 30 bridged to -ve
Pin 87 to pin 17 on the blue connector of the TV module

On the TV module on the blue connector:

Pin 10 to -ve
Pin 1 to +ve

On the TV module on the white connector (important bit):

Pin 13 to the inner wire on the phono cable (+ve)
Pin 14 to the inner wire on the phono cable (-ve)

And of course you have your power source to the camera sorted already.

I'm hoping that helps!

Cheers Sanj

I used the third pic in on the first page, the bigger one of the two.

However it would appear that the problem lay in the low voltage, after having the car on ignition for a while and the radio on while fitting and testing the cam.
I have been out in the car all day today and the cam has worked faultlessly,so hopefully that'll be the end of it !!

Cheers for the help and cracking how to.
