number 38 on the above link.
The part number on the package that mine came in was completely different. Might explain why its a different shape to the original. Cost about £10 (I think)[/quote]
Thanks for info. Seems there's a few out there with either one or none!! of these in place.

Re: Boot!
That realoem only shows a qty. of 1 for the bump stop (38)? Wonder if there's only supposed to be 1 installed?

Boot!
Does it list bump stop left and bump stop right?
Re: Boot!
My facelift model only has one on the left. Does anyone's boot lid actually lift itself open when the button on the key is pressed? Mine just releases the catch and I have to lift it manually, which seams a bit pointless.

Re: Boot!
only releases the catch. i don't believe its designed to go up on its own (the 2 struts are designed almost parallel to the lid when closed so def. not designed to kick it up).

Re: Boot!
Did some digging on this. The consensus appears to be that a single bump stop on the left was installed for facelifts only.
This would fit with what I found as my left torx bolt was already sticking out slightly to accommodate the rubber lip of the bump stop whilst the right one was screwed all the way in with no gap. However, with just one bump stop on it wouldn't open the boot far enough to stop the motor constantly going thinking it wasn't open fully. Maybe it was just that the old bump stop was hardened through age. However, it works perfectly with two on there and quite frankly only having one is the stuff my OCD nightmares are made of.

Re: Boot!
On a related note. When I release the boot remotely with the key, it tries (but fails) to close automatically.
Is this problem resolved by wrapping some tape around the latch, or have I missed what that fix was for?

Re: Boot!
That's the reason why I looked at this in the first place. When using the dash mounted button my boot wouldn't release cleanly and the motor kept going. After lots of guesswork I'm fairly sure pre facelift cars have none fitted as standard and facelift have one to the left. Given how easily mine came off (literally fell off when I touched it) I suspect that a lot have now been lost etc. my original one was much shorter than the newer one which is the be expected and since fitting two, it's solved the problem.
There is another issue with the rubber bump stops in the rain channel either side of the boot hatch. It's very comprehensively discussed on this forum if you search for it.

Yep, I think you're right about this. Mine fell off once when I just knocked it lightly... was a real PITA to get back on too! I suppose some sort of glue is a bad idea!?!
