E70 ECU remap - seeking advice

Post by jbutterfill » Wed Jan 25, 2012 1:17 pm

Hi All

I have a 2008 E70 3.0sd and am looking to get it remapped primarily for economy rather that performance. I have spoken to various tuners such as Jason from BW chiptune and Simon from Emaps - both seem like good guys and very honest.

I just wanted to know what peoples experiences have been with getting specifically their E70 remapped - and if in hindsight they thought it was worth it. Whats the average MPG etc. Are there other tuners to consider?

I have also heard that if you get it remapped it wont really do much to the economy, but lots to performance.

I get the feeling that mappers have a generic ECU map template for each car (rather than a wholly custom map) which they then load on to the ECU and do minor tuning to make it tailored for that specific car - is this correct?

James

Jason's your man here. He's at bwchiptune and knows what he's about. A few here have had their P&J 'breathed' upon by him and the team.

Try Jason - no regrets from most. He will read your ECU file to his laptop and change that. So it is your file he will be changing. Can't get more custom than that.

Simon mapped my 335d m sport & Merc CLS 320. Merc performed very well after that & economy was marginally better.

thanks Jason, when we spoke I couldnt remember if you mentioned different maps for economy or performance etc?

Also, what happens when I flick between sport mode and normal driving mode - does the map overlay both modes - or would sport mode be rendered useless?
