bluetooth galaxy s2 contacts not transfering
Re: bluetooth galaxy s2 contacts not transfering
It may be down to the Bluetooth version that VMW chose to use and that used by the phone. The latest bluetooth contact variant is not compatible. I know the iphone4 works, but it's possible yours doesn't. Do you know which variant of the standard the phone uses? It can also depend upon how old the TCU is in your car.
Bluetooth was supposed to be a common standard way of doing things, but that's not how it turned out and even back in 2005, BMW were out if step with what was then actually being used. Phones pair OK, but that's it in some cases. I think that the address book/contact list had to be compatible with Bluetooth standard 1.1. Different manufacturers have enabled this in different ways going forward as part of the pairing process.
Looking on the web, it seems that you're not alone with this on BMWs of a similar age to yours. It appears to be the version of address book/contact standard in the latest Android OS is not compatible with that used in the earlier BMWs pre iDrive. The last version that seemed to have worked flawlessly was 'Froyo', whatever that was. Sorry, not an Android user so not familiar with all the OS Version names.
Some users seem to have got round it using summat called 'Cyanogen 2.3.7' and some trickery, so it may be possible. Does this help at all.....

Re: bluetooth galaxy s2 contacts not transfering
You're welcome. Glad it worked. It looked like a possible choice so it's nice when something works out..
Bluetooth was such a pain due to the number of differing ways in which a supposed 'universal' standard was being implemented that when I was ordering my E53 in 2004, I opted to have the built in phone instead. At that time two networks were tslking of offering tein SIM systems, oe in the phone and one in the car. As usual both bottled it and although it was a pain swapping sim cards in and out at least I knew that regardless of phone type, the contacts would always work.
And now we know it works, anyone else with the same issue has a possible solution.

Re: bluetooth galaxy s2 contacts not transfering
yep, as already mentioned.
cars circa 2005 have their bluetooth software compatible with phones from that era also. my old sony k800i from that era still works perfectly with my car.
but my up to date android phone is just too far advanced for the old beamers circuitry.
hence iphones work so well still, as their operating system is so old!!!
