Scanner 1.4.0 What Now?

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:41 pm

Not played properly despite having it for ages lol. I set the alarm so it beeps when I lock/unlock it though and some other stuff with fault codes but that's as much as I've done,.. Would be good to find a comprehensive guide on what you can do, how to find it in the program and how to make the changes
Do you have a link to the ebay seller for the parking sensors?

I've already got the auto locking working, done the tv in motion tonight but never heard of the headlights coming on with double pressing unlock... something else to look into.

I was lucky that we got one with factory xenons, I got the led angel eye bulbs a couple of days ago and got them fitted now.

I would watch out for an hid kit, im sure the law is changing or has changed regarding hid kits. I think they are now an MOT failure, worth double checking on this tho.

Think the only other things I am going to be doing is adding dvd player and tvs in rear headrests then maybe a set of the 20" alloys.

Its not even my car, its the wife's, so trying to prevent doing to much to it.... thats what my kit car's for lol!
heres the link to parking sensors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220926321731? ... 1438.l2661

im unsure if you can work the the lights from the key, have seen a few vw's and jags do it before thats where i got the idea, would seem a better idea than putting the windows down due to the weather lol!

i had read abit about the kits being a failure, mixed opinions, guess it depends on the tester ;)

one of my mates just got a kenwood headunit and 2 rear screens, looks pretty cool. you thinking the le mans alloys? love the look of them.

lol, youll need to get some pics of that too...

Cheers for the link, actually ordered 1 from that seller the other night, just waiting on it turning up now. I've now disabled the front pdc sensors using the scanner until I get round to changing out the broken one. So much better than the annoying beep every time you put the car into reverse.

Yeah thinking lemans alloys, just think they really suit the car. There's a place in Edinburgh that does various headrest screen packages so gona see what they say and what the best option is.

Will get pics up eventually.... Just need it to stop raining and for the winds to stop bits of my house from falling off!

Need to get pics of yours up aswell.

hey, dirtymonkey, others, i think i'm out of luck?

i just tried giving power to pin 1 on the 6-pin connector, didn't work :(

i need help pls.

here's what i tried:

stripped off a bit of shield from wire on pin 1, connected positive lead. nothing happened. held for about a minute as well in case there was a timer, nothing at all happened.

then i tried the same with the key in the ignition hole, in position 1 (ie, radio on). still nothing happened.

then i pulled out the 6-pin plug and held the positive lead onto the pin 1 itself (little chance unless the units housing acted as the ground). still nothing happened:(

nothing happening as in, no sound or feedback AT ALL. not even the teeniest spark where i was holding onto the positive lead.

positive that i provided couldn't have been better either, cos it was from the massive positive in/outlet just around there (provided in case car needed to be jumped started), and using a 4mm cable (piece from what is used for powering sub amps)

have i missed a step somewhere? or am i one of the unlucky ones? (i remember dirtymonkey saying this is really touch and go..)

:|

cheers

Scanner 1.4.0 What Now?

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Sat Jan 07, 2012 12:59 pm

Replied on the other thread,... Have you noticed it running when the engine had been running, ie while waiting at traffic lights? Usually hear a ticking coming from the passenger side. Don't need windows or anything open to hear it. Should run at 5c or below. Once engine is up to temp it will stop running. Have you checked for fault codes?

no i haven't heard anything tick from the passenger side, well not that i've been listening, can't check today cos its around 11c right now!! damn i need colder weather suddenly!! :headbang:

also my battery is probably around 11.7v. does that matter for the unit if its a direct positive to the pin 1? (i've read that it matters if its on the timer)

fault codes - i dont' have the scanner 1.4.0 yet! on its way .. and on its way from where i don't usualy ebay from! fingers crossed on taht too!
Hi Jaynana, IKE is one of the options on the scanner software.... I finally found it on this thread....

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3008&hilit=heating+success

To enable the aux heater on the obc is easy once you know where to find it, just dont know if it actually works, thats a job for tomorrow night once ive read the epic 26 page thread on parking heaters lol.

I think the scanner is a worthwile purchase, if nothing else it lets you view any errors that your car has shown up and there are plenty of other things to enable etc. I'm very cautious aswell about wiping things, had a bit of a brown pants moment when I failed to upgrade the firmware, but managed to sort it with the help of these forums and Xoutpost forums.
Handy thread that ;) :D

Lol cheers x555 definitely pointed me in the right direction for what I was looking for.

Just need to check the other parking heater thread now as I'm not 100% on wether mine is working properly or not. When I switch it on it seems to blow air into the cabin and seems to run for longer than 1 minute ( didn't actually leave it running for long as I was short of time). But the air coming out was cold, how quickly should this get hot?

Scanner 1.4.0 What Now?

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Sun Jan 08, 2012 12:32 pm

Take header tank cap off and see if there is a jet of water circulating, if there is I think I should get warm inside going by what others have reported. Mine doesnt circulate and my fans blow cold. Still haven't worked out why
