My Dealer Parts Team has a nice little (and being BMW, somewhat expensive no doubt) box with about thirty or so different keys that fit any model BMW that comes in for Service. The parts bod referred to it as the 'Master Set' when I rang them about my lost key a few nonths back. They use it to get the wheels off cars that the owners have not brought the wheel key in for, or to find the right key for ordering replacements for lost keys - such as yours.
