X5 wheels fit an X6

Post by JaspandOsc » Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:37 pm

Hi, this is my first post and I'm looking for a bit of help, I want to fit 21" wheels (style 215) on to my X6, I can get a set that were on an X5, I know that the centre bores on the rear are different 74.1 on the X5 and 72.6 on the X6, is it just a case of fitting spigot rings? Or are there offset problems? Any advice would be appreciated

You'll need the spigot rings for the rear due to the clever rear drive system.

Is that all that's needed then? Seems pretty straight forward, I see the spigot rings on eBay for around £5!

I believe so. The offsets are the same for both versions.

Wanted a set on mine, but at the time of ordering they were silly money, and still quite rare. I ended up with 214's for the Summer and a set of 168's for the Winter rubber.

When I bought mine from the dealer it had black 215's on it, but the previous owner was transferring them to his new X6, I'm just about to get the black plastics body coloured and I think that 20" wheels will look a bit light on it when that's done, the 215's are Ferric Grey so I think that should look fine, I've just bought and X5 for the wife but I couldn't be bothered of going through the hassle trying the rear wheels on!! Thanks for the help, the spigots are ordered!! Maybe I'll post a couple of pictures when I've made the changes!!

I put X6 wheels on my X5 and used this website to calculate the offsets: http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp
You'll need to get the numbers for your wheels, again I used this website: http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/

I've seen them for sale on Ebay recently at £200 a wheel refurbished with tyres at 4-5mm, the deal I had for the 215's fell through PM me and maybe we can sort something out although it is the 215's I'm really after.

Paintwork all done, plastic protection added to the sills and arches and 21"s added, don't think it looks too bad, I've seen worse!!

They are sitting outside the house for the whole world to see, I'm not sure that blanking out the plates makes much difference!!

I was going to fit 215's but by the time I realised what I needed to do they were sold, I'm happy with the 5 spokes although I might get them powder coated gunmetal later this year!
