Goodbye
Goodbye
Sold the X last Friday, reluctantly, due to impending emigration. I really enjoyed the car although ownership was hardly worry and trouble free! I hope the new owner enjoys it and finds this forum.
Thanks to those who provided advice on here when I needed it.

Re: Goodbye
As one who's fairly recently emigrated (at least for a few years) 'good luck'. Where are you going? If it's Canada I may be able to help from experience...!

Enjoy the emigration - where to?
Glad the car was trouble-free too.
Best of luck.

Off to Oz. Think you may have misunderstood Sanj, I meant the car was not worry or trouble free, I had various issues with door handles, bearings, track rods and air suspension the main bug bears, although I did manage 50k in 2 years so I guess it would be unlikely to get nothing seeing as the mileage was over 70k when I got it.
Cheers

Wish you every success with the move. We have used the British Expat forum in the past - here's the link if you've not come across it already:

Re: Goodbye
good luck with the move, pick up an X when you get there
Re: Goodbye
ooops - sorry
That kind of mileage will never be trouble-free. But I did guess Oz (to myself). Bold move! They say these cars are very pricey to buy over there, thought of shipping a good example over?

Good luck over there. Even without an X, always worth popping in the lounge to let us know where you ended up and with what car

Re: Goodbye
I'm very envious. I lived in NZ many years ago and would dearly love to move back there or to Oz.
BMW X5 3.0d M-Sport facelift (E53).
Re: Goodbye
Good Luck with the move.
My brother has just moved out to Melborne to run the State Emergency Services in Victoria. He's loving it and thoroughly enjoying himself, even if the exchange rate change has altered some of his plans - Melborne is apparently a very expensive place to choose to live and he lives right in the middle of the city which kind of explains why it's expensive for him!
Keep in touch and let us know how you're getting on - especially if you end up with an Oz 'X'

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Goodbye
As I understand it Australia is an expensive place to live all over, so I am not going with any silly better life less hours more money dreams
Car wise BMW(any of them) is an import and very expensive - my X would have sold for £16k plus over there but here I got £9k.
Job comes with subsidised car but capital allowance is not great so very restricted choice, have ended up with brand new Hyundai Santa Fe. Not up to the BMW standards but reasonably happy as its only going to cost me around £70 a week (pre tax) and thats all in, insurance servicing fuel and all
Will miss the X though, just don't think anyone quite builds a dashboard like BMW!
Thanks for all the positive comments
