Hi X5S,
Thanks for responding.

Luckily it is a new purchase so they are under obligation to sort everything out before I am satisfied, so if it needs hew head unit etc then it's down to them.
It came with 12 months MOT - no mention of warning lights!

I do have 3 years 4 x 4 prestige warranty on it but they need to sort out the post sale problems.

I will check the fuses anyway as I have it back awaiting the light module.

They reckon it went to a BMW 'Specialist' I know of one locally so am going to give him a call to see if it was him.

The Nav screen shows nothing just a very feint backlight that goes out, no display at all.

Like you say it is down to Hartwell to sort - just be pleased to get my music on!

lol@digital watch.

Warning lights only come under the MoT from January 2012, so you're fine there

Methinks yours might be the last BMW X5 that particular Ford Dealer handles. These beasts have expensive habits!! But they're great to drive though.. :driving:

Ok now the fun starts.
Had a spare hour before driving to Birmingham this morning, went in the boot with my tester and pulled every fuse out one by one checked them and put them back, nothing wrong with any of them!
But sat nav fired into life radio came on, alarm started working, revering lights cured!! All dashboard warning lights started working.
Best hour spent this year!
I guess it was either a dodgy connection or I rebooted the whole car lol.

Probably the latter. A well known cure for a few of the X5's foibles is to do no more than disconnect the battery for thirty minutes and then reconnect it and hey presto......

Glad it's behaving now for you though.. :D

Welcome to the forum

Sounds like you have a module that has shorted inside and brought down the can line
Removing it's power has fixed it for now but may come back again

Yes very satisfying to have a success. Im heading down to London for New Year so lets hope it performs as well as it did to Birmingham drives like a dream. As far as problem returning it has a new lighting control module coming from BMW at the dealers expense so I will let them go ahead and fit it :-)

Next tasks
Get updated DVD for sat nav it's got 2004-2 on it so that's why it kept trying to do some ploughing over fields!!!
So if anybody knows a good source - I will off course search the good forums.

Then I will start a new thread when the LPG gets done with photo's of course.

Thanks all

Fianlly after a 'month Hartwell Ford' got the new LCU and even though everything was fine I let them fit it :-) might as well as they were paying!
Everything is fine even though it took 2 days!!
Will not be returning in a hurry.
Also got updated firmware and 2012 maps for Sat Nav...wot say where from but was spot on! PM if want details.

Next task is instal digital adapter for TV and reversing camera.
