bluetooth issues

Post by garioch » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:52 pm

Evening,

I'm having a bit (actually alot) of trouble trying to get my phone (iphone 4) to pair with the car. all i have on the screen is "activate phone", cant even get to the "bluetooth pairing" stage.

ive tried pushing the pair button for 3sec with ignition off, then holding for a further 3 with ignition in position 1. nothing happens.

after reading a few more threads on here i opened up centre armrest and found a few broken wires

no idea what they did but thought it was a good place to start.

after soldering the 3 wires back together i tried it but still no luck.

When i go into the bluetooth on my phone and search for devices it doesnt pick up anything... does this suggest that it is the BT module itself that is faultly?
Heres a pic of it and ariel to let you know which one ive got.

Any suggestions welcome.

cheers

I've had issues with mine from day one!!! I might actually check the under the arm rest to see if there are any broken wires. When I was over at Sanj's - he tried to get it working and there was no joy. Its either a faulty Bluetooth Module, which is an expensive replacement (even secondhand they aren't cheap) and I think for the same money you could just purchase a Parrot, which will be much better than the OEM version.

It might possibly be the Bluetooth antenna which is usually mounted on the top of the rack (above the DVD). Let me know how you get on with this as I don't want to purchase a Bluetooth Module only to find that mine isn't faulty.

i read somewhere that you can unplug the bt antenna which proves it faultly or not. i might try that. going to check wiring again first to double check everything is ok on that side of it. anyone know where you get a wring diagram so i can establish what wire does what and find out which ones were actually broken in the first place.

explorer, thats the stage im trying to get to but nothing happens when i press the pair button, everytime i try it im just hoping to see those lights flash lol.

I couldn't get my bluetooth into pairing mode either. Eventually the following topic solved it for me.

It's easy enough to get out but there are 4 very small torx head screws underneath which need to be undone to separate it into two halves. 2 screws at the front and 2 at the back. Took my a while to find the ones at the back.

I gave up with my BT from the start, had a Parrot fitted with the screen fitted snugly into the ashtray so it's invisible when the lids closed and a much better system

Here's the Parrot head unit in the ash tray, can't see it when the lids closed. Unfortunately I did crack the ash tray when it was fitted as it is quite a brittle plastic.
