Intravee and KCA-420i set-up issue

Post by X5eireann » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:42 pm

Hello all,

I just received my Intravee II from ToysInYourCar today and I was all excited to install the Intravee and KCA-420i tonight, however after installing it there is no sign of any life..... Its not displaying on the Head Unit and the iPhone is recognising the Intravee when connected. I got an old iPod to use for a trail run incase there were any software issues with my iPhone.

Has anyone got any ideas?????

What do you get on the display when you select the Intravee as the source? If nothing at all, then I suspect that the cables are not in from the CD changer.

The leads from the CD Changer are firmly in the intravee - I'm getting nothing from the head unit, NO Display - The iPhone was displaying accessory recognised. The only thing I can think of is...... Could the CD Changer wires get loose from their source????

The Intravee forum is not allowing new joiners to register.

Really P**SED OFF..... :headbang:

And the leads from the Intravee to the Alpine unit are ok?

Does your iPod display the Alpine symbol when you connect it?

I took my Apline 420i out of its mounted location under the rear seat so I could fiddle with it. (after all that work getting the wire through carpet!) Everything is connected OK, if I connect the wires to the CD changer it works...... (well apart from the sticking magazine)

When I connect the iPhone to the Intravee it doesn't display the Alpine symbol.

Just to confirm - the iPhone is connecting to the Alpine unit, not the Intravee. The Alpine is the unit that will display the Alpine symbol onto the iPhone.

So CD changer cable into Intravee, Intravee cable to Alpine, Alpine to iPhone - that is how you have wired it, right?

I'm doing the right way;

CD cables connected into the Intravee, iBus lead from Intravee to Alpine, Alpine connected to iPhone

Do you have the serial cable to connect from a PC to the Intravee so you can read the ibus?

It sounds to me like that the Alpine unit is not getting power as you are not getting the Alpine symbol on the iPod.

Ignition on when testing?

Are you using the SatNav screen or Business CD player?

When I bought my Intravee + Alpine stuff, it was set up for use with a business CD player and did not display correctly (or not at all, I cant remember exactly) to my SatNav screen until I plugged it into a laptop and changed it to the Nav display via the serial cable. (info on how to do this on the Intravee website)

Also IIRC, I have an iPhone 4 and it doesn't work with the Intravee (could be wrong though) but I use an iPod Nano with mine that I leave permanantky in the car.

If the above does not help, try asking here:

I'll try and get a serial cable from work, however my Laptop might not have a connection.
I only just purchased the Intravee from ToysInYourCar, so it should be the most update software / firmware.

It sounds like the KCA isn't doing the job and I purchased this second hand but it was never used and still sealed in the box.

Ignition is on when testing - otherwise the head unit will not work.

The headunit question is a very valid one though, as I had assumed there was a navigation screen. The default out of the box setting is for the navigation screen.

Whichever way, you would still see the Alpine sign on the iPod and the music would still play even without display.

I assume you have tried playing something on the iPod to hear if there is any sound?

I tried playing music from my iPhone and I even got an old iPod to check it too - NO JOY.

It does not look like the Alpine unit is getting power.

Which means the Intravee isn't getting power.... as the KCA is powered by the Intravee.
