Seat key memory
Seat key memory
Ok Ive spent a few days searching this one and found loads of info on how to get the seats to operate to individual keys - the favorite is key in position 2, adjust seat, remove key and lock - repeat with next key.
But I cant seem to get mine to work. Its generally accepted that this key memory milarky has to be be dealer enabled, but I have a scanner 1.4 that reports it IS enabled on my car.
Any thoughts people ?

Seat key memory
I know mine is enabled and it basically takes the setting when the car is locked as opposed to a setting you program once.
So I have my setup then lock with key. Saved. Wife adjusts to her seat settings, mirrors, steering then lock and those are saved to her key.
That's it now whoever unlocks it loads the last lock settings of that key.

Re: Seat key memory
Info received, but still can't get this to work. Double checked the settings with the scanner and key memory is definitely enabled.. and come to think of it, both me and the wife have been using separate keys for a couple of weeks now and they've never moved on their own.both keys are working as they should.

Re: Seat key memory
I'm not sure what's more fun, me frantically searching for non existing equipment or finding someone else who doesn't always read what they are typing. I have spent many an hour trying to decipher what my wife is trying to say from hee blackberry!
So I suppose the next bit is where I ask " what do I need to get this going " or is it a visit to the dealers ?

Re: Seat key memory
No not yet, Jason from chip tune says you have to do something else as well as turn it on with the scanner, but he's not telling what.

Re: Seat key memory
intersting write-up about this, but still no closer to getting this done:
Vehicle/Key Memory
The Vehicle/Key Memory feature provides the flexibility of allowing the owner to customize certain functions of select vehicle systems and automatically identifies users of the vehicle by a key identification signal provided by the remote keyless entry system (FZV).
Vehicle & Key memory is marketed as a combined feature but is actually two separate functions of the select vehicle control systems.
Vehicle Memory: The owner is provided with a list of available system functions that can be customized to their liking. Prior to delivery, the DISplus or MoDiC is used to encode the owner’s chosen selections into the appropriate control modules.
These choices become a permanent function of the control module and can only be changed by re-ncoding with the DISplus or MoDiC at a BMW Center.
This feature has been available for some time via the ZCS Conversion Feature but has never been fully utilized or officially presented to the vehicle owner as a feature of their vehicle.
Key Memory: This feature provides the added convenience of identifying users of the vehicle whenever a lock or unlocked signal is generated via the individual FZV keys. A maximum of four FZV keys can be used with the Key Memory feature.
Each of the four keys generate a unique key identification signal (key number) that is transmitted simultaneously with the lock/unlock signals to the General Module.
Most of the key memory functions require the vehicle be configured using the “KEY MEMORY†function of the DIS or MoDiC. However, there are a few features that store settings automatically without configuration such as IHKA blower speed and temp setting. The key ID signal alerts the GM to communicate with select control systems over the K Bus to store (when locked) or reset (when unlocked) certain driver adjustable settings.
There are features that function as both a Car & Key Memory feature.
Example; the Automatic Seat Adjustment feature is encoded as a Car Memory Function with the following possibilities:
• When unlocking,
• When opening a door after unlocking
• Or not active at all.
If active, the seat positions are stored and reactivated by the Key Memory function for individual users of the car.
