Replacing front brakes on X53

Hi,

I have a X53 3.0l Sport 2004 Facelift.

My front pads and disc's need changing and I've decided to do the work myself. The online guides look pretty good and it doesn't look like rocket science.

I just need to know what are the make of the OE parts.

Looking at the pads I currently have they are Textar, but I do not know what make the Disc's are. Would they also be Textar. or would the Textar disc's be an acceptable replacement ?

Or should I be looking for something else.

Thats were I was going to get them from Â£222 for Textar front disc and pads + a new sensor

Eicher dics and pads are showing as the best selling on euro car parts are these anygood or should I stick with the Textar ?

From Cotswold they quoted me Â£317 for the parts.

Local Indy Garage was Â£380+vat fitted

Bought Eicher from eurocarparts for my Boxster last year and they were Textar

Mine were also from EuroCarParts (pads only) and they have been very good so far - they came in at Â£38 for the rears and Â£53 for the fronts - this is from memory though. Oh and this is the scary bit...

The sensor went off so we changed the rears as they looked low. Then we checked the fronts as the sensor was still on (remember to leave the car on for at least 20 secs to let the sensor go out). That's how little I had left compared to a new set (front).

It's not the outside pad but the inside one you want to watchout for!

I had mine replaced by Dick Lovetts about 6 weeks ago

Front & Rear pads, disks and sensors
Â£590

Sorry ment to say this was with a large discount as I complained that it was not picked up in the service carried out 3k miles before

I'm replacing mine this weekend along with the FSR. I've opted for Mintex which is a name thats been around for a million years so fingers crossed they'll be good.

Axxis is a brand that AW8 has highlighted in the old forum - they have reduced brake dust but perhaps a tad less performance too. Best ask AW8 as he has/had them on his car.

Worth a punt, may be?
