Buying Advice

Hi guys,

just been to see an x3 2.0d sport this evening.

Car overall is perfect for what we are looking for but just had a couple of questions.

When I was on a test drive I noticed a juddering when i lifted off the throttle - luckily the garage im buying from uses a B M W Specialist in Coventry - so we took it there after the test drive and the mechanic knew what what the problem was and will be working on it tomorrow. The mechanic mentioned he also had an X3 2.0d with the same problem in at the same time - anyone else experienced this?

Also it was advertised with heated seats and mutlichanger - unfortunately no heated seats - can these be fitted afterwards?
the mutichanger - i couldnt see either - is it hidden away somewhere?

Its got bmw bluetooth in the arm rest - just wondering - when the phone rings - does it show the number anywhere on any of the displays?

The multi-changer is in the armrest. The armrest splits into two, a top section (where the bluetooth is) and another larger section under that which houses the CD changer. There are two seperate latches next to each other to open the different parts.

Not sure how the bluetooth works - never actually used it.

Did you get me e-mail yesterday??? No pressure, just wanted to make sure you had it.

Heated Seats are not usually something that can be retrofitted to BMWs, or at least not without either major seat disassembly or replacing the seat itself. There was a time when the elements were installed and just needed the rest of the electronics fitting to make them work, but I fear those days are long gone.

Wow!

that is a great spec! And a great looking car! And I'm very gutted that I didn't see this earlier!

To be honest though the higher tax band would have been a struggle... But that does look awesome!

We picked up our car on Friday ..... And I've been finding little things wrong here and there and would so much have preferred to buy from someone on here

hopefully all the things are small and fixable!

Ah, shame, but think I would have been too late to the party for you anyway.

Yes, the high road tax is a major consideration, in fact made me pull out of the deal originally (after deposit taken in fact) as it came as a complete surprise. Eventually the car was reduced in price that more than compensated for the extra tax I'd pay over our planned ownership. I figured the extra Â£1k, over 5 years, was worth it for the extras, low mileage, 1 owner car at the time. Probably get a real kicking now though as the country has gone really anti-road tax.

Well done with your new purchase though, the X3 is a really brilliant car to live with, and the criticism it receives is wholly unjustified IMO.

Hope you get the niggles sorted out quickly and can relax and enjoy your new purchase.
