Hi guys, first post so be gentle!
I'm looking at buying a 2004 or 2005 e53 x5. Ideally I want one with the full comms pack but have seen a few with the sat nav but not the tv or phone kit. If I did get one with the satnav but not the tv or phone options how difficult would they be to add later on?
Cheers all....

Re: Adding TV to satnav?
If you go down the OEM route, then the answer is .........expensive. The OEM Freeview receiver - that only appeared in late 2004 is around £600. You can get 2nd hand ones on ebay, but they may be analogue only. TV function is fine in good signal areas and if you're not moving (you'll need a coding change to stop the auto cut-off when you move). The Bluetooth module is again very expensive if you go OEM.
There are aftermarket versions of both, but if you have a choice, try to find one with at least the Bluetooth system already in place as it will save you a lot of hassle. TV function is a personal preference which you may think again about. I have had it on all our BMWs but don't use it very much. It is nice to have when stuck on a motorway or if SWMBO has gone shopping again..............

Cheers for your response.... tbh it was more for if the mrs was in shopping I could sit in the car and not be bored haha...
What about hooking the screen up to a dvd player would that be possible and if so is it another expensive option?
Cheers again

Re: Adding TV to satnav?
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I have the OEM sat nav and also bought a 2nd hand analogue tuner.
Would the tuner be plug and play or would I have to buy the aerials also?
Analogue will still be on in my region for a few months yet so just wondering if it’s worth fitting?
Cheers

Re: Adding TV to satnav?
Plug and play - just find the white, blue connectors and the two aerials. Should be wrapped in the loom.
Should also take you no more than 30 mins to do.

Analogue and Digital TV signals are still broadcast in the same frequency block so the aerials will work just fine.
