Hallelujah!

Post by Pete » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:01 am

I'm really pleased because after a bit of a trek I've finally found myself an X5! So after scouring the internet for an age to find the right car, I've finally stopped dilly dallying and taken the plunge! I took the advice that AW8 gave me some time ago to sell privately and then buy privately and feel that I've ended up with a much better specced car than I would've got via a trader, so I'm a very happy chap :D

Massive thanks to Petert (who's a lovely & helpful chap) who took the time to go through everything on the car etc. and I look forward to collecting the vehicle and uploading some pictures and info for the new forum!

Yes that's right - good to keep it within the forum ;)
I've not picked up the X5 yet as it is having a replacement wing mirror fitted very soon - but I'm due to go away early hours of Saturday so might have to wait until after the holiday to collect :( At least it'll be exciting to come back to though.

I'll be waving my trusty Type R off tonight which I feel genuinely  about! Sad I know but I'll really miss it.

   wishing you well with your new 3.0i - the 3.0i is underrated but its a really nice car - I had one before part-exing for my 4.8is and it was a peach, I part-exed for the 4.8 really because I missed the big V8, having had one for years. The 3.0i engine is a solid lump with a good pedigree and a bit cheaper to maintain than the diesel or V8 models - the transmissions though, can sometimes do strange things, have a read on xoutpost. Mine had a strange quirk of not wanting to move forward from a cold start, although it would reverse easily....in the US this led to free replacement transmissions being fitted but in the UK, BMW UK decided they could get away with it and refused to do anything. A software update sometimes works apparently, but I didn't have mine long enough to have the work done.

Don't forget the pics!!!

Sometimes I wonder if it was actually the car I miss or whether it is the memories and experiences I had in the car...
