Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
here are the pics i promised. i know it is a little bit late but finally had a chance to add them here.
so far the head unit is awesome. the only thing that bothers me at the moment is that i get the engine noise when the unit is on. i emailed John and see why it might be doing it. ipod connection is awesome. i get to change the songs on my Ipod thru the steering wheel. the OBC info is still available thry instrument cluster so not much to loose from there either. i did not try out the GPS yet but it seems pretty easy to use. the back up Camera is awesome. it is fairly accurate on distance. the head unit is also connected to the rear headrest DVD units so if the DVD players fail i can still play DVDs thru my headunit. and the wireless headphones make it easier to seperate the different sounds in the car. my kids loved the dvd players in the headrests. did not get a chance to try out the games on them yet but never needed.the total cost for the headrest units, head unit and the back up camera including installation and all the wiring plus digital antenna for TV was 1008 quid. and the headlight assemblies cost 250 quid. now i will be looking into getting the remapping done to continue modding my X.
i hope this was a useful review but i am still exploring the unit.if anyone ask me that if i would recommend it than i'd say definetely. the sound quality is a lot better and a lot easier to use with the touch screen. one thing i need to get is that the screen protector which i am going to get an IPAD screen protector and cut it out for the screen since there is no designated screen protector for the unit.
and the headlight assemblies... from Germany made by DEPO.

Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
her are some more pics of the unit as i am working on connecting my iphone to the unit. pic of the radio mode with all the info shown on the screen and the when the back up camera is on ..these were taken at night so quality might not be great on the pics.
syncing the phone via bluetooth was very easy. it copies your phonebook if you choose to and made a call thru the unit and the sound is very clear both sides.
more ifo to come as i explore the unit more

Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
Ok, just bought one of these for my 2003 4.4. So far, pretty easy to install. I now have everything cabled, and I'm ready to push the unit into place, however it does seem to be very tight. Am I doing something wrong, or do I just need to be brave enough and push the bottom end of the unit in tight?
Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
it should not be that tight.mine had plenty of room.

Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
Did you take out the old DIN frame, or just take off the fold-down flap? If you take it out, what holds the unit in place?
Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
mine had an OEM satnav so i did not have any of those din frame or the flap.

Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
I've fitted the radio myself aswell I took the glove box out and put excess cable behind it I find mine has poor radio signal tho everything else works well tho
Re: Hualingan Replacement Headunit (Tested)
To add the new units are now supporting DAB radio - if this is being considered...
