Parking heater remote start- Enabling

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Tue Nov 01, 2011 3:00 pm

Unless you have a thermotop C Malc your wasting your time.

Wilko look at the few recent posts I've made on this topic, the upgrade kit is explained.

Any one with a thermo C, can you get some photos of the additional pump attached to the webasto and the pipe work please
Can anyone tell me if the bmw scanner v 1.4.0 is compatible with windows 7 ? i have down loaded the drives but am having problem with the program as i am trying to enable my wabasto heater on the OBC :x
sorry, not sure about windows 7 but mine runs on xp without problems.
Upgrade kit ????????? Tell me more ;)
the webasto circuit board from an e39 or an early x5 should do the trick. mine is a z-top and now works via obc enabled with scanner. please read my earlier posts on this thread if you require more information.

Cheers

i have a thermo z.
i dont know where the water pump is actually located but when it runs, a water flow can be seen by removing the radiator cap.
the car interior gets warm after 15 mins.
you should be able to see this action yourself by just continually connecting +12v to pin1 on the webasto multiplug.
i fried my original webasto circuit board through continual experiments to get the scanner enabled contol working - it never did until i tried the circuit board from an older webasto, then worked perfectly by the timer! hth. :)

Parking heater remote start- Enabling

The water pump will be down the front which will circulate hot water around the cylinder block. The webasto thermotop c has an additional "circulation" pump physically fitted to the webasto heater which is what pushes the hot coolant around the heater matrix. This circulation pump is included in the upgrade kit for the Z and also includes a pre formed hose to plumb into the matrix. Does it get really hot inside or just slightly warm? Can you have a dig around for me at your earliest convenience. Really want to get this resolved for myself and other members here who want a nice warm car in the winter mornings.

after 15 mins its warm enough to start melting frost and ice from windscreen. after 30 mins the whole car is warm inside but not as warm as if the engine is running and heat controls set to max of course.
have you a link to this "upgrade kit"? i would like to see it out of interest.

It's on this thread... I've spoke to webasto Doncaster on the phone to find out the exact contents of the upgrade kit as it's listed as "includes pump and timing kit" There are also links I've posted to the repair manual and user manual which shows the difference between the z and the c. Phil has confirmed he has a thermo c, I'm hoping he will take some photos and upload for us.

theres plenty of themo top c's on ebay if you need photos of them.
the one i sourced second hand was a "c". only difference was the attached water pump and possible different circuit board ( i couldnt tell difference by looking, but it certainly got my "z" working as i wanted.)

hi dirtymonkey my heater is a Thermo Top Z , if i put a live to pin 1 green and white wire the heater fires up and blows warm to hot air out of the demister vents in the car,and if i take the cap off the header tank you can see the water returning, i have fitted a telestart t91 but all that will do is turn the wabasto heater motor on for around 30 to 40 seconds
but the burner wont kick in , :?

malc1950.
have you tried your telestart at temps below 5deg C?
the reason i ask. is i suspect the telestart system shares the criteria for working as the cars automatic webasto start. ie only when outside temp is below 5C.
the 12v to pin1 method bypasses this restriction.

That is odd. Do you have the circulation pump on the front of the webasto?
