Hello Everyone

Post by hpn » Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:24 pm

Hi, I was familiar with the old forum and used to visit quite regulaly although I never registered.
A little about me - Im 18 (although quite sensible most of the time), I drive an e46 320d touring and get the pleasure of sharing my mums X5 :D

My e46 is an 05, I love it - I think its a great first car! In the year and a bit I've had it its been 100% reliable and it does 45mpg which makes it even better.

The X5 is an 04 e53 3.0d that we've had since new. In that time its only let us down on two occasions - both last year, in the snow :? . The first being when the battery decided it'd had enough and left us stranded in a freezing car park. The other getting stuck on the snowy slope in pic 3 below and it wouldn’t go backwards or forwards (although I think that was probably more to do with the worn Turanzas and it was a lot deeper than in that pic).

One think that I thought the X5 would have is xenon headlights, which ours doesn’t have. So soon I think I’ll have a go at upgrading to xenon, do you guys have any recommendations/advice on how to do that or which package to buy etc.?

Here are few pics of them, sorry about the quality.

Welcome, the insurance must be interesting for you at 18.

Nice cars though, and for the X5 make sure you get winter tyres for up north if we get another winter like the last one.

Thanks for the comments.
The insurance was a pain and took a while to get sorted out, but they gave in eventually.
I've been looking on ebay for a while for a set of narrower wheels to put some winter tires on but havnt found anything for the right price yet.

I'll have a look at hids4you. Thanks

535dboy - Id rather not say, although ill say its quite significant. The parents aggreed if I bought the car they would pay the insurance :D

Thanks, I've never been quite sure if they suited the car.
