i am doing just great since i am not in Afghanistan anymore :)
i am not over the pond..not just yet at least.. i am stationed here in UK as US military. i got 4 more years in UK which gives me 4 years to enjoy my X5 than i'll have to let it go..
if i gave the wrong impression on my location my apologies. i believe the confusion comes from since i can get the US parts cheaper and quicker without the customs fee because we are authorized to have a US address here in UK and it is same as getting it shipped withing US . exempt from taxes ;) but i am stationed RAF Lakenheath in UK. been here for 3 years loved it and extended for another 4 years.. i hope this clears the confusion a little bit :)
as far as the sub enclosure.. i hope that he does have one available and is reasonably priced for me to get it.. my hauligan has an subwoofer output so do i still need to get an amplifier? as far as the 8" subwoofer speaker goes ,should i search on fleabay for one or should i get one from a reputable electronic shop like comet ,curry's etc...
i am hoping that i don't have to spend a lot to get this subwoofer going because i really need to get the remapping done on this beast..i need to see JASON to get this car remapped and would like to be able to do it this year so hopefully i can get both done :)
my goal is to get my X5 the way i want it and make it down to the next years meeting if i can.

Listen to you! Comet and Curry's! LOL!

Yeap need the amp regardless of what head unit you choose. Golden rule: a SUB needs a separate amp to power it, no head unit will ever be able to do that!

x555 will know - I dropped him a text for ya!

Right - now I need to search for my U.S. options before you go back!!!

Glad you're safe and sound above all else buddy! AND when you're ready to go see that cowboy Jason, give me a shout, I'll try to come and say hello! He's the best there is to honest (hate to say it).... :sick2:

i don't know!! those are the places that i HEARD which sells electronics..i probably end up getting something from stateside for the sub and amp.. as i said the hauligan has a subwoofer output so that might be the lead i could use to feed the amp..i will e mail john to see if he can give me tips on how the hauligan can integrate with this set up..
as far as getting stuff from states as long as the company ships to military all you have to do is let me know.. as i mentioned on the skid plate thread that i have a BMW dealer as well as a couple different aftermarket companies that i am in touch with to get the military discounts as well as shipping out to military address.. by the way not every company ships to military address which i never understood but let me know what you need and we'll go from there.. i am shipping another skid plate for another forum member tomorrow and once again i am willing to use my privilidge to get stuff for forum members because i think we need to look after eachother this way noone gets ripped off by stealerships. i've learned a lot of tips from this forum to fix or upgrade my X5 and if i can repay you all for the knowledge with being the middle person to save a few quids than so be it.. i am all for saving money when it is unnecessary to spend more if there is a cheaper option for the same quality so if you want to do your search and give me the info or give me the part info and i can ask to the sources i deal with whenever..
if i get a sub box than the visit to Jason will be either end of november or mid december.. i am hoping that the price he has given is still the same and includes VAT..
once i get an appoinment with him i will let you know.

CHEAT! No Google! Delete......

Regardless of Sub Out you still need the Amp - just means in the menu on the headunit you have an option to turn the sub on or off. Nothing more... Radio module to external amp will provide the power - and remote cable to switch the amp on/off through RCM.

The internal amp in the head unit is not powerful enough. Never is - golden rule again...

Appreciate sharing the wealth

i've ordered a shallow mount 500watts PIONEER subwoofer. also 1000watt 2 channel bridgrable amplifier to support the subwoofer. once i get them i'll see if i can have the time to mess with it to install if not i might take it to a local shop for installation since i did not get a response from JOHN (carvision).total cost for these parts and a amp installation wire kit is around 105 quid. awaiting for delivery at the moment.
