Whats it worth??

Post by baldguy » Wed Oct 26, 2011 2:58 pm

2000/X 4.4 Sport
91k miles with full history
Silver with black leather
all usual E53 extras with TV, sunroof, dog guard etc etc

I bought this earlier this year and then went on to spend 3k on enhancements and maintenance to include

20" is wheels/tyres
Mk3 DVD with 2011maps on widescreen front screen (upgrade)
Gearbox rebuild to stop oil leaks
Full engine breather replacement
Valley pan gasket renewal
Full large service to include plugs
New BMW radiator
New water expansion tank
Full 4x4 laser aligned
Black bonnet grills
Full privacy glass
updated rear lights

Drives 100%, pulls like a train with 23mpg, taxed and mot'd and needs nothing....

Whats its worth?

The way the general public is currently viewing any car with a petrol engine that exceeds 700cc, I would say about 10p. Check finished listings on ebay to see what they have sold for. Prices on the trader are not necessarily a reflection of what is actually paid.

How many owners and do you have full service history,in my experience without any kind of warranty people are very keen to know about this info.
If you're looking for Quick sale then lower your price to 5000 or near offer,if you decide to use the X as a trading in car you might well get more, depending on what you're trading it in against

The biggest problem you have is a big thirsty car that is well over eight years old, if you get really desperate You could try British car auctions

My best advice
wait until we get some very bad weather and everyone is struggling
then put it on eBay and auto Trader, you will probably get a quick sale as long as you don't ask too much.
People get very keen on 4x4's when the weather is really shit :D ,I have noticed this most winters
but be ready to act as this period normally doesn't last long ;)
good luck

i would agree with aboove i only got £6k for my 2001 petrol x5, was imaculate and had lpg, sold it pretty quick though 3 days on ebay! :D if your not desparate keep it, trader is not really good to go off because alot of stuff is over priced and i would always haggle alot from a trader price. good luck tho if you do sell it!
