Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling

ive jst tried out the 12v to pin 1 to make sure it works before ordering a gsm unit to switch it on and off. The webasto fired up and ran constantly while there was power to pin 1 and after about 5 mins the blowers inside the car started blowing, the red fan symbol on the radio was also flashing red but the air it was blowing was cold, i left it running for a good 10-15 mins and still cold, although the webasto was still running and was hot....i noticed that the display on the nav/radio unit was flickering.

Anyone got ideas? would really like this working for winter

i dont know about the display flickering, you did have your key out of the ignition i take it?
other than that, what you describe with the webasto sounds promising. mine only gets warm and only after at least 15 mins.
i wouldnt expect a toasty car after 30 mins, but as long as the windscreens de- iced im happy.

yup key out and doors locked. i went out for a drive shortly after trying out the pin 1 and expected the temp gauge to have moved a bit but it hadnt. id have thought it would have got warm and toasty inside. wabasto was definatley working though

hmm.. strange that, my temp needle gets as far as the end of the blue section after a 30 min webasto run.
are all the water hoses feeling hot around the webasto and engine bay.

if you fire up the heater again from pin 1 when it gets warm look into your header tank and you should see the water returning
it sounds like its not , i have checked mine and you can see it returning also it sends hot air to the screen

got my scanner last week to enable mine on the OBC hope to do it this weekend :) if i can sort out my computer :?

Parking heater remote start- Enabling

Post by dirtymonkey29 » Sat Oct 08, 2011 5:22 pm

I've not got heat option on obc as that didn't work either when I enabled it with my BMW scanner so I took it off again. I have air coming out of the window vent but it's cold. Will try it again later but im starting to think I need additional parts on a facelift model. Mine is a 54 plate built Jan 2005

Hi wilkoturbo if i put a live to pin 1 the heater fires up and runs ok till a take the wire off again, but if i turn the heater on via my T91 Telestart the heater motor runs but doesn't fire up then it stops running after 45 sec or so, :?

I have just bought a v1.4.0 scanner but as yet i haven't been able to use it to enable my aux heating if i can!! as my computer has a fault on the CD Drive,

i am wondering if i will ever be able to use it as this has been going on for 4 mths now and i feel like giving up, :headbang:

Without wanting to hijack the thread, if someone on the forum has an E70 with the parking heater fitted could they post a photo of the under-bonnet area plus heater?
I've always thought it odd that here in Canada the parking heater option is not available (I've got the cold weather package with heated seats all round and heated steering wheel...)
When it gets a bit fresh here (for which read below -20 C) the car definitiely goes in the garage overnight!
