PDC confirmation required please

Post by deckie77 » Thu Oct 06, 2011 7:52 pm

Hi all, I am after some advice again, on park sensors this time.

I have been having intermittent probs with PDC sensors working then not working for a couple of weeks now, but all day today they have been on the blink, so i have done some homework on them and i listened to all the sensors seperatley and heard all but 1 make a clicking sound. The one that makes no sound is a rear centre one, i beleive that the part number for centre ones are 66206989069.
I am just looking for confirmation that this is the correct part number before i order one, as i have read there is a different part number for the corner ones.

Also if any one knows the location of a walkthru on how to change them out this would be greatly appreciated also.

Thanks in advance,
Deckie.

dont know about the part number,I changed one on the front and one on the rear on mine, you should be able to put your hand up under the bumper and push it out, easy enuff to do,I got mine off ebay, the same one fitted the front and rear, altho the small locating lug inside the connector was on the wrong side to fit my loom so i just cut it out with a stanley knife, job done

I don't know about part numbers, when I had a broken one I tried one from a Ford Galaxy :o And it worked fine, I noticed that the one on Ford was made by VW,
maybe they make everyone's parking sensor, there's a big difference in price when it's for a BMW.

As I do all my own work I don't mind experimenting,I think a lot of people here would not take the chance,
on the other hand if you researched it properly all the statistics and data to prove there is no difference,
why not order your parking sensors from cheaper models, as they seemed to be a regular problem maybe someone will look into it, and save the rest of you a lot of money.

On the back of Powercats post please note that pre-facelift and facelift models have different looking PDC's...

The cuts either side of the circular inner part of the sensor are on the pre-facelift and on the facelift they're completely round.

Hi,

If you want to confirm the part numbers then get the last 7 digits of your VIN and go to http://www.realoem.com and enter the VIN info where it says Serial number.

Then hit 'Browse Parts' and navigate to 'Distance Systems, Cruise control', you should then be able to confirm the part numbers for your exact vehicle.

The rear center ones are easiest to change as you can remove the flap on the bumper and also get access from underneath....

Cheers,

~Shaun.

Yep them rears are a sinch  especially for the diesel models ;)
Most part numbers will work many are just discontinued and as already pointed out only the front corners are different.
