Fitting front camera

Post by mas123 » Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:46 pm

Hi,

I have 2003 X5 and I want to fit a front camera. Does anyone know the best route for taking the camera wire from the front bonnet to the stereo?

No, no, you have it wrong, it's a remote drive system being developed.......

On a more serious note, there is access from the front to inside if you go via the electronics box on the left rear of the engine bay. Far right, at the back if you're looking from the front of the car. It is water-resistant and connects through to the fusebox above the glovebox. You could drill a hole, fit a good sealing grommet and run your wires back through there.

To get the lid off the box you will need to remove the trims above it as there is a fixing right at the back next to the firewall. And be careful not to break the clips at the back either, as that could affect the water-resistant integrity.

Can't help with pics as I've sold my E53, and someone's just bought it from the Dealer - anyone here? 2005 E53 Sterling Grey/Black Nappa? Index starts BH0......... 51k on the odo.

Hi,

Thanks for advice, I bought the camera from Ebay at £11.99 you can't go wrong and they work really well.

Kind regards,
