De tango headlights .
After some advice / help does anybody know how to remove the orange lens from the headlights to give them a clear updated look .
Re: De tango headlights .
Some folks over on Xoutpost have done this, and it may involve removing the light unit from the car and baking it to soften the glue so that you can split the lamp unit apart, then remove the offending amber plastic. You then have to glue the whole thing back together again.
It only works on certain versions as BMW changed the type of glue quite early on and the later version (still pre-facelift) cannot be baked apart. If this is the case, then you need to get hold of aftermarket units, or buy some clear ones.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Have split E46 coupe facelift lights before when fitting angel eye kits and it is a bit messy but didn't have to bake it (just used a heat gun very carefully) but not sure if the pre-facelift X5 lights use the same glue or not.

Your light build date needs to be Sept 2002 (I think).

Like this?:
I just heated the headlights till the seals softened, took off the front lens and took out all the orange and fussy looking plactic pieces. Re-heat, put lens back in place and its done.
