Well mine dont have it because i get nothing but fuz, used to do before they turned what ever off. Now how do i go about fitting one of these turners, plug and play i hope.
It is plug and play if you buy a BMW tuner - just swop the two and it should work. But be warned - its not as good as the analogue was in the car, if the signal isn't perfect you see.....expensive fuzz! It makes a difference where you park - even just a few metres - and its useless "on the move" if you have it enabled for kids / passenger to watch in the rear. The BMW tuners are around £600 or more and of course, everyone wants one right now with the switch over  and be careful about ebay tuners - loads of analogue useless tuners out there and people ready to do a sharp one on a "quick sale"
OK cheers for that, i dont think i'll bother. The analogue one was a bit pants and had to be retuned depending where i was.

I was going to start a new thread about replacing my old analogue tv tuner (in my 54 plate) but thought this thread might be a better place... :driving:

I think I'm going to buy one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200611802514? ... 1423.l2649
it looks good value (much better value than the OEM ones!) and having driven a car with a DAB radio recently, I really like the idea of having that too.

Has anyone got this tuner or one very similar? I guess it's not going to be as seamless as I would like and I'm going to have use AV to get a picture?
That aerial looks a bit crazy! Where on earth would it go?

If anyone has bought this exact same model I'd be very interested to hear your experiences.

Hi Waka,

The aerial is similar to the one I used on the Chinese unit - I had it in the back quarter window (where the original antenna is). It was less obvious with the darker glass.
The rest of the kit just seems to tap into the current TV module for the AV input. Then plug the DVB-T into the newly wired additional phono cables.

Wonder how good this signal would be on the go...?

Thanks for the reply Sanj

I can't see my original aerial in my back window. I thought the original aerial was hidden in the roof/spoiler? I'm a bit worried about putting the new aerial in the back window as the previous owner of my X5 has tinted the windows with a film on the inside (I guess they are all done that way?). So I was worried it might pull the film off if I had to move it.

Is your Chinese unit similar to the one in the link above?

Thanks again.

I had the Hualingan unit:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1813&hilit=tested&start=45#p19069

Only tested and then sent back, didn't like the iPod interface.

The lines you see in that rear window (like the heating filaments in the rear windscreen) are the antennas. If you have a film on yours then yes you could well pull the film off. I just wedged it in there to see what I could get. OEM windows have the tint in the glass, no film...

Thanks again Sanj.
I thought those elements in the rear side windows were for heating...well I've learnt something today!

I don't have anything Apple otherwise the Hualingan would have looked more interesting, although it didn't have a DAB tuner :-(

I'll report back when I get my new toy...maybe for Christmas!
