Auto Light glitch

Post by Giles90 » Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:56 pm

No matter what the conditions my Auto lights seem to have developed a glitch when I start the car.
The lights come on when i turn on the car (even in daylight)
Then they turn off (even if it's dark)
After about 15 seconds they work normally (will come back on if it's dark and work correctly from there)
Any thoughts at all?

Is the windscreen sensor cable properly plugged in, and the 'window' clear, no misting or dirt, or condensation apparent? Are your auto wipers behaving? I believe the system uses the same sensor block but a different device. Big square one for the wipers and the smaller one for the lights. If the sensor window mists or gets dirty inside it might cause the issue?

Thanks for getting back to me, the sensor looks ok (not obviously misted or dirty). I will check the sensor cable and report back!

Are sure there isn't some sort of grease of bird crap covering the sensor?

nothing obvious, it's been cleaned a few times with this glitch still happening...It seems to work fine after the start up error which makes me think it may not be to do with the sensor being faulty...it seems to be able to sense the conditions, but only after the car has been on for 15 seconds or so!
