can i up grade from casette player to sat nav system
hi i have a 2002 3.0 d sport auto which has a casette player and would like to know if it is posible to upgrade the system to a sat nav system, and what would i need and at what cost ? if it is possible, thanks......
bmw 5 series 3.0 1999, Z4 2,5 2004, X5 3.0D sport 2002.

Wow it's a very big job and £££££ best of looking at sanj post on head units

It can be done, but for a full OEM system it's a major job as a lot of work needs doing in and behind the dash, new cabling front to back, recoding, GPS antenna in the spoiler, new hardware in the boot, relocate some hardware from front to back and a VERY large dent in your bank account.
If you really want to have a look at just how big, go have a look at bimmerretrofit.com, register and then download (need to register to get it) the OEM Installation Manual. It's take the car interior apart time. You won't get the investment back. Mind you, you may feel well chuffed to have done it.
Oh, and you still end up with a blasted cassette deck, albeit hidden!
